Cassidy`s in Hinckley

Stopped for dinner on a road trip. Service was good, waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. Salad Bar was alright with standard options (few lettuce mixes, vegetables, 4-5 dressings, cheeses, and bacon bits). Bread bar was pretty good with 4-5 different loaves. Soups were decent.Interior was clean, but worn and dated. Warm and comfortable in it's prime.

We stopped for lunch and the barley soup was very good, taco salad was okay. My husband had burger and ff which he said was good too. Interior was very dark and old, lots of things painted black. Waitress was great!

I ordered the salad bar. It looked messy. It needed to be cleaned and refreshed at dinnertime. But, there were many choices. Tried both soups - vegetable beef was good; chicken noodle had an unpleasant flour taste. The homemade bread was excellent! There were several kinds and you could slice off what you liked. There was a big bowl of whipped butter. Unfortunately it had a dead fly in it.

The best hot beef sandwich & gravy I think I've EVER had!! ABSOLUTELY delish!!! 😀 The mashed potatoes are real, & you don't find that too many places anymore...😊 Can't wait to go back...😍💞

One wait staff, food was not cooked and no money off the bill for the inconvenience

Amazing food and the guest service was great, hasn't changed much since I was there last about 25 years ago! Lol thank you for keeping it a great family establishment with great food.

When I was a kid (back in the day) Cassidy's was the restaurant I begged to go to when we were heading up to the lake. It had been at least 20 years since I last ate here (I live 1200 miles away) and was thrilled to find the place had changed very little. My 15 year old son even ordered the dish which was my kid-favorite -- beef stew -- and it still came in a cast iron kettle! Highly recommended for those who love small town diners, comfort food, and small town non-tourist prices.

I was up in Minnesota for a week doing inventory, and this place was recommended for their salad bar. My friend and I tried this and yes, definitely would recommend for the salad bar. Just be warned, the waitress service might be a little slow on getting to your table because of everything they're doing, but they are friendly.

Five-star cafe. Walk in, the smell of trips with your parents, of beef gravy and pancakes and sweetly smiling waitresses. That's Cassidy's. Perfect stop after Grand Casino and Toby's lot is full.

If you're looking for a nice salad bar with some great fresh baked bread this is the place! Service is very friendly and the soups are delicious.

We stopped you're after a nice road trip bringing a Pomeranian puppy to meet to deliver to someone else. We've been coming here for years enjoyin the salad bar and lovely bread and whipped butter. I also remember coming here in high school years ago stopping on our way to Duluth and going down the the spiral staircase into the downstairs because it was fun to use the stairs. The bakery was sold out. Bummer! Worth the stop!

IVery good and super friendly service. Also, giving their location I must admit their food is very good. I have not tried their salad bar

Had the buffet and it was excellent. Nice selection. Breads were great and the cold salads were fantastic. Great value. We will come back.

Nice seating great food and great service sometimes the music gets loud but all around a good dinner

Good food. Descent salad bar. Very homestyle. We are foodies enough that we could imagine ways how each dish could have been made better, but it was good. The waitress was exceptional. She was handling the entire place herself , and seemed genuinely pleasant

Quaint atmosphere, salad bar is not bad, but also nothing to write home about. Seems like a nice place to warm up after a day of ice fishing or sledding. It's alright/10

Resting is aging and apparently struggling to keep updated and relevant. Most clientele appear to be loyal and faithfully return no matter the price and quality of good. Prices were high relatively high, portions were small and food quality okay. Decor is thread bare as well. The staff is friendly and attentive.

Tried the Friday fish buffet salad bar wa ok soup ok but the fish was terrible cold and soggy was not worth the 11.99 price tag.

They had a really good chicken soup. The menu has a variety of cuisine choices. Family dining setting. Not really a lounge.

The worst prime rib I've ever had. The worst Father's Day special ever experienced.

The idea of the salad bar was the reason we went to Cassidy's, but it was a let down. Everything was really sweet and bland. Won't be coming back.

Fantastic buffet, and you can just have the salad part, if your not in the mood for the other dishes, and the bread selections are great...try it out, you will love it😊

So bad that I didn't eat! Tried to have the "salad bar" but nothing was stocked so watched my wife eat a little from it. My daughter ordered off the menu didn't like it! My wife had small dish complained to me everything tasted bad like vinegar... But with no service and a uncaring staff was stuck with no one seeing that the patrons were leaving unhappy! Specifically went in for fish and none was "on the salad bar" like I was told. My wife stood and waited for quite some time and little to compliment. I left crabby, hungry, and with a much higher bill then I expected.

Only thing good out of the buffet was the soup and salad. Potatoes were stiff, gravy had no flavor. Some of the "clean" plates were dirty with salad still stuck on them. Table felt dirty yet not cleaned off properly. Not worth the $30 spent in my opinion

I'm sorry to say that this place made the Frying pan in Wahpeton ND seem like a gourmet restaurant... no lie. Salad bar wasn't fresh , soups were not hot, no fruit, the breads as there was a variety but stale and old. Not as clean as I would of preferred. The hospitality of the waitress was excellent. Good for you girl!!! Prices for the typical sit down poor restaurant prices. Sorry 🙄🙄🙄

Went for birthday's lunch. Had a group of 10. Seated quicky with great service. Breakfast served all day. Great homemade food and portions. Pricing I'd more then reasonable. Buffet was fresh with amazing varieties of fresh food! We will be returning!

This place is amazing. An original early 60's supper club in all its glory. The food is fantastic. The salad bar may be the best I've ever seen. The service was fast and friendly. Please don't change a thing, love everything about this place.

This place has been here since my husband was little (he's 50). They have great homemade food. The bacon is nice and thick and edible. Hash brown are fabulous and homemade. Pancakes taste like they are made from scratch but I loved their french toast made from homemade bread.

Been coming here for over a decade with my family on our way to the cabin. Has not changed a bit in that time which is good. Salad bar is amazing and staff is excellent.

Great price great food. Bloody Mary was good only $4! Wish I could have sat and had a few more. I had the salad bar it was good, decent soup could have had better options for hot food but the home made bread was amazing. Definitely would stop again.

For what it is, if it wasn't so overpriced, it's an average to above average place to eat. Great staff every time. In my opinion though, the prices are unreasonable.

Clean and efficient operation. Salad and soup bar were good. I also like the variety of fresh breads they have to choose from. My buddy had the burger and loved it. Cassidy’s is a great option for a quick meal when traveling along I35.

Positives: Service was friendly but slow. Food was good, not great. Negatives: Decor looks like it has not been updated since 1971. The building is generally in poor repair and looks dingey. But the absolute deal breaker was the bathroom. It had a layer of *something* covering everything and smells like dirty mop water. the floors were so greasy that it was actually hard to walk across to the stalls. The toilet seats are so loose and shift no matter how gingerly you sit down. Any appetite I had was gone after that. Overall It’s run like a mom and pop place where mom and pop can’t keep up anymore and the kids couldn’t care less what happens to the family business.

The food was very good and hot. The salad bar is every bit worth the extra few dollars. The staff was friendly and very patient with the grand children. An enjoyable meal for the family.

Ladies restroom out of paper towels, also hand dryer was broken.😟. Hostess was aware of this . they fixed problem by putting towels on hostess desk..... Salad bar was ok. Food seemed to be at correct temp and decent selection. Couldn't see out of Windows, either filty or panes needed replacement. Staff was great.

Our dining experience wasn't as good as past visits. We usually opt for the Salad Bar...but that didn't look very appetizing. We were there early yet the bread bar was picked over and empty. My steak wasn't cooked medium, my wife asked for her bread toasted on her hot beef sandwich and it wasn't. It may seem trivial but they all add up to a unenjoyable experience. We will go back again because our many previous visits have been very good. Hopefully they just had a bad night.

We have been going there for years and it have declined rapidly in the last year. Service is horrible! Slow ,rude, and very uncaring. We always like to get the salad bar and it used to be great! Our last visit was awful food was old and just plain garbage! Our server came over to give us our drink order and we didn't see her again until I tracked her down for my bill, no refill nothing. This isn't our first bad experience in the last year and I don't know that we will give it another chance which is sad because we really did enjoy going there.

The salad bar is fantastic, the meatballs and bread pudding was very good. The all you can eat fish and tartar sauce were great! Sage dressing and tater salad was also very good. Soups were like "Grandma's"!

Buffet was ok. Salads were good. Soup was bland. Fried fish is kept in hot pan so it's not crispy but overall it's a lot cheaper than the casino buffet and still all you can eat

Great food! My husband had the Western burger and I had the coconut shrimp. Our server Chelsey was wonderful! Will be stopping again.

It was suggested that I go to this restaurant for the hot food and salad bar. Food quality was horrible!!! Fried fish sat on the hot bar so long it was warm, but also rubbery. Other food items on the hot bar was dried out due to sitting in the heat for a while. The only food that was decent was the hot soup. I don't recommend anyone going there unless you want to waste your money and you like horrible food.

We were there today and the waitress told us tomorrow is their last day open, what a bummer. Great broasted chicken and wait staff. Rude hostest.

Valentines dinner. We both ordered specials thinking fast and fresh. What we got was poor service, very salty primerib and chewy steak that left us both sick the next morning. $45 bill which normally would get you great service and high end food. Not sure if we will try again.

My favorite place to stop for lunch when heading to the North Shore. Friendly wait staff, quick seating, and good food. Their buffet is fresh with lots of variety, and they have a menu with a broad range of choices for table service. Don't forget to check out the bakery items prepared from scratch on site daily.

Been coming here for many years. You can't beat there salad and soup Buffet. O' that's right, There selection of homemade bread is none other. Highly recommended when driving through Hinckley. Hinckley has more than just Tobbies!

Went to our favorite restaurant on the way to the North Shore. So sad to see it’s closed & not opening any time soon. Try the Whistle Stop a couple blocks away! VERY GOOD!
